Hello friends, in today's post we are going to talk about how to port your SIM to BSNL, what are the advantages and disadvantages of porting to BSNL, how many days will it take to port to BSNL, will BSNL provide 4G or 5G service, etc. So let's start today's post without wasting time.
How to port into BSNL
To port any SIM, you have to follow the steps given below.
1. Get UPC code -
First of all, confirm that the number you want to port should have enough recharge plan so that you can send a message from it. After this, you have to send a message to 1900 from that SIM, and write in the message, "PORT MobileNumber" Here in place of MobileNumber, you have to write your mobile number, which you want to port.
For example, if your mobile number is 9876543210, then you have to write PORT 9876543210 and send it to 1900. After this, a message will come on your number in which the UPC code will be written.
2. Go to the nearest BSNL Customer Service Center (CSC) -
After getting the UPC code, go to your nearest BSNL Customer Service Center or BSNL retailer. And tell them that you want to port your SIM card to BSNL, after which they will ask you for the UPC code which you have received in SMS. Which you have to tell them.
3. Submit documents -
For this you have to take your Aadhar card, which the retailer will see and scan it, from his phone. And if you do not have an Aadhar card, you can also take your voter card or driving license.
4. Pay Porting Charges (if applicable) -
Currently, porting service in BSNL is absolutely free, you do not have to pay any charge for it, but on porting to BSNL, you get a recharge plan, for which you have to pay, while sometimes that is also free, so before porting, you have to talk to the retailer, how much charge will I have to pay for it.
5. Get a new BSNL SIM -
After this process, the retailer will give you a new BSNL SIM. Which usually gets activated in 15 to 20 minutes, but sometimes it takes up to 24 hours.
6. Do Tele Verification -
After the network comes in the new SIM, call 1507 from it, then you will be asked some questions about your ID, which you had given while taking the SIM, such as the last four digits of the ID etc. After this your SIM will be fully activated.

Can I port to BSNL online?
No, till now BSNL does not officially provide any facility of online porting. For this you will have to go to BSNL customer service center or nearest BSNL retailer. There are some private companies that provide online porting facilities like 10digi.com, but firstly, this facility is not available at every location and secondly, they also have separate charges. So it would be better if you port your SIM from the nearest customer service center or retailer.
Are people porting to BSNL?
Yes, recently, after the recharges of other private telecom companies became expensive, many users are leaving other telecom operators and shifting to BSNL. Due to which the number of BSNL users is increasing. And the number of users of the other three big telecom companies has decreased by millions.
Will BSNL provide 4G network or 5G network?
Bharat Sarkar Nigam Limited is a govermnet telecom company, which is currently providing only 4G service, and this 4G service is also available in only a few states and only a few cities of India. BSNL plans to launch 4G service all over India by August 2024. While BSNL is planning to launch 5G service by the beginning of 2025. By the way, there is a lot of possibility that BSNL will be able to fulfill these plans, because a giant company like Tata has partnered in it.
How is BSNL 4G? Is it as good as Jio or Airtel 4G?
BSNL's 4G service is being launched now, it has not been launched all over India yet. Therefore, it cannot be said right now whether it will be able to match Jio 4G and Airtel 4G. Because the connectivity or internet speed of any network depends on the number of users or location. By the way, in the places where 4G has been rolled out so far, its speed has been seen to be around 20mbps, which is almost the same as Jio 4G and Airtel 4G.

Why has BSNL not yet launched 4G in India?
BSNL has faced many challenges to launch its 4G services in India.
1. Financial or high debt problem -
BSNL has faced problems like operating losses and high debt, due to which it became very difficult for it to raise funds to roll out 4G.
2. Delay in procurement of 4G equipment -
The procurement process of 4G equipment has been very slow, the main reason for this is the need to follow strict government instructions and cancellation of tenders and delays in tenders.
3. Competition in the telecom sector -
Since private companies like Reliance Jio, Airtel, Vodafone Idea had already launched their 4G networks in the market, it became very expensive for BSNL to compete with them and gain market share.
4. Government policies and approvals -
BSNL has to follow complex and bureaucratic government policies, and obtain many approvals, which takes a lot of time.
5. Technology transition -
It has been a challenging task for BSNL to upgrade to 4G services without interruption of existing services.
6. Strategic change -
BSNL's emphasis on 4G rollout under the Make in India initiative has also caused delays.
Should I continue with a BSNL SIM or port it?
Whether you should continue with your BSNL SIM or port it depends on the following points -
1. Network coverage and quality -
If the coverage of BSNL network is good in your area, you get good speed, you do not face any problem like call drop, then you should continue on BSNL network. Apart from this, if you have minor problems like sometimes getting low speed, or sometimes getting call drop problem, then also you should continue on BSNL network, because the plans of other telecom companies are very expensive in comparison to this.
2. Price of the plan -
BSNL plans are cheaper than the plans of other telecom companies, so there is no logic in the fact that you should port to another network because the plan is expensive. Because the plans of other companies are even more expensive than this.
3. Customer service -
There is no doubt that the customer service of private companies is better than BSNL, but this is not a valid reason to port your SIM. Therefore, it would be better if you continue with BSNL SIM.
4. Special requirements -
If you have some special requirements like roaming plan, SMS plan, caller tune etc. then you should take a decision by comparing these services of all telecom companies.
5. Feedback from others -
For this, you can take feedback about other networks from your classmates, family members or friends whether you should switch to other network or not.
