In today's time, everyone uses the phone and without a SIM card, the phone is like a box without which neither we can call nor use the internet, so in such a situation we must have at least one SIM card. While taking a SIM card, we have the option of telecom operator Airtel Jio Vodafone Idea and BSNL apart from taking prepaid sim card or postpaid sim card, so let's know in detail what is the difference between the two and which of the two we choose Should do.

Difference between Prepaid and Postpaid

What Is Prepaid

Prepaid SIM card is a normal SIM card, but as its name suggests, pre ie first and paid means giving. This means that we have to pay before using any facility in the prepaid SIM card, only then we can use those services, which means that first we have to choose a plan according to our need, only then we can enjoy those services. Most of the people have a prepaid SIM card, so whenever they have to recharge, then they first select the plan, after that they give money to the retailer or pay online, then they get the benefit of recharge, that means first give the money and then use his service. This is the meaning of prepaid.

What is Postpaid

Postpaid SIM card is also a normal SIM card, but as its name suggests post i.e. post and paid i.e. Pay. This means that money does not have to be paid before using any facility in the postpaid SIM card, in this we use the services first, then we give money. This means that first we have to use their services according to our need, only then we give money for the services. Those who have a postpaid sim card, first they use calls and internet, then at the end of the month a bill is made for it, which the user has to pay. Meaning first use their service and then give money. This is the meaning of postpaid.

Both prepaid and postpad are meant to use services like SIM calls and data, but there are some differences between them which are as follows:

Prepaid SIM

  • First payment - To use services like calls and data in the prepaid SIM, you have to pay first, then you can use these services.
  • No monthly bill - There is no bill in the prepaid sim according to the month, which means only the money that is charged at the time of recharge has to be paid. Low starting cost - The money to buy a prepaid SIM card takes less than the postpaid.
  • Flexibility - In the prepaid SIM card, you can select the plan as per your need.

Postpaid SIM

  • Later payment - Before using services like calls and data in postpad sim, no money has to be paid, but money has to be paid after using services.
  • Monthly Bill - On using postpaid sim, the monthly bill comes in the last of the month.
  • High Credit Score - Sometimes this may also require a high credit score. In very low condition.

How Prepaid is better than Postpaid

  • Expense Control - By this you spend only as much as you need, which means you avoid spending extra money.
  • No monthly bill - There is no monthly bill in this, due to which how much bill will come this time, there is no worry.
  • Low starting cost - It takes less money to buy prepaid sims.
  • Don't worry about credit score - No credit score is required to buy a prepaid SIM.

How Postpaid is better than Prepaid

  • More Facilities - Postpaid SIM offers additional features such as more data balance limits, additional call minutes or unlimited callings, free OTT subscriptions, etc.
  • High Credit Score - If you use postpaid sim and pay bills on time then your credit score also increases.
  • Better Customer Service - Postpaid users often get better customer care support than prepaid.

How to choose Right SIM

If your budget is fixed then you should take prepaid sim because it does not charge any extra charge, it costs only as much money as you have recharged. But remember, in this you get limited data like daily one GB or two GB.

If you do not have budget problems and you want to use unlimited data, that too without any problem or limit, then you should take a postpaid SIM, but remember, no matter how much monthly bill can come according to your usage.

How to change Prepaid to Postpaid or Postpaid to Prepaid

To port any SIM, you have to follow the steps given below.

1. Get UPC code -

First of all, confirm that you should have such a recharge plan on the number you want to port, that you can send a message from it. After this, you have to send a message on 1900 from that SIM, and write in the message, "Port MobileNumber" here instead of MobileNumber, you have to write your mobile number, which you have to port.

For example, if your mobile number is 9876543210, then you have to send PORT 9876543210 to 1900 by writing it. After this a message will come on your number in which the UPC code will be written.

2. Visit the nearest Customer Service Center (CSC)

After getting the UPC code, go to your nearest customer service center or retailer. And tell them that you have to get your SIM card ported, after which they will ask you the UPC code which has come to you in SMS. which you have to tell them.

3. Submit documents

For this, you have to carry your Aadhar card, which the retailer will see and scan it, from your phone. And if you do not have Aadhar card then you can also take voter card or driving license.

4. Pay the porting fee (if applicable)

At present, the port service is absolutely free, for this you do not have to pay any charge, but on porting, you get a recharge plan, for which you have to pay, whereas sometimes it is also free, so before porting, you have to talk to the retailer, how much charge I will have to pay for it.

5. Get new SIM

After this process, the retailer will give you a new SIM. Which normally turns on in 15 to 20 minutes, but sometimes it takes up to 24 hours.
